The last Manchester United line-up to win at Liverpool: Where are they now?

Marouane Fellaini, Morgan Schneiderlin and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson all played a part in a smash-and-grab victory…

A lot has happened since Manchester United last won away to Liverpool on January 17, 2016, when a late Wayne Rooney strike nicked a 1-0 victory at Anfield.

Great Britain was still in the European Union, Donald Trump was most famous as presenter of The Apprentice, while Leicester City were top of the Premier League.

Since then, trips to the red part of Merseyside have been nothing short of traumatic for United, losing four of seven games and drawing three, conceding 11 goals while scoring just once.

So, GOAL has taken a look back on that somewhat jammy last victory on enemy territory, when David de Gea had a stormer and Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Michael Carrick celebrated with United's travelling supporters in the lower tier of the Anfield Road stand.

De Gea and Anthony Martial are the only surviving members of the starting 11, Rooney has moved into management, while Marouane Fellaini and Morgan Schneiderlin (remember him?) are seeing out their careers in far and distant places…

GettyGK: David de Gea

The Spaniard has so often been the scourge of Liverpool and this was among his best ever displays against them, making four big saves (opposite number Simon Mignolet made none).

Now his 12th season with United and holds the record for most clean sheets in the club’s history. When he takes to the field on Anfield he will make his 525th appearance for United.

Which, considering how often he has been written off and that he was on the brink of joining Real Madrud, is quite the achievement.

AdvertisementGetty ImagesRB: Ashley Young

A long-serving red who equipped himself in both full-back positions and on both wings.

He may not have been universally loved but always gave his best shot in his nine years at Old Trafford.

Surprised many by going to Inter Milan in 2020, especially when he played a key role in their first title win in 11 years, becoming only the third Englishman to lift Serie A.

Now back at Aston Villa and still doing a job aged 37.

GettyCB: Chris Smalling

The former England defender had a very up and down career with United, routinely producing a superb performance one week followed by an error-strewn display the next.

Louis van Gaal famously introduced him as "Mike" on a pre-season tour but that season he was his first-choice centre-back, starting 35 of 38 league games.

And who could forget that winning header at the Etihad in 2018 which put Man City's title celebrations on hold?

Moved to Roma in 2019 and has done himself proud in Serie A, proving indispensable to his former United boss Jose Mourinho.

GettyCB: Daley Blind

Son of Ajax and Netherlands legend Danny, Blind was one of the first signings made by Van Gaal, who valued his ability to bring the ball out from the back.

He had some good spells, especially in Van Gaal's first season, but became marginalised under Jose Mourinho and in 2018 returned to Ajax, where he became a hugely influential player under Ten Hag and won a sack of domestic trophies.

Left Ajax in January to join Bayern Munich, where he has been playing a peripheral role.

Michail Antonio, Leon Bailey and Jamaica's Premier League stars have the Reggae Boyz on track for a World Cup return in 2026

It's been 25 years since Jamaica was truly on the world stage, but the team's Gold Cup run has them looking ready for a return to the big tournaments

By the time the 2026 World Cup comes around, it'll have been 28 years since Jamaica experienced their one and only appearance on that massive stage. 28 long years, some worse than others. They've seemingly always been right there, always ready to take the leap and seal their spot once again but, for one reason or another, something always went wrong.

This time around it feels different. It's early in the 2026 World Cup cycle and much can change between now and qualifying. But, if you're looking to feel smart over the next three years, start buying stock in the Reggae Boyz, because it seems like it's only up from here.

Jamaica have emerged as the most interesting team in the ongoing CONCACAF Gold Cup, having gone unbeaten on their run to the semifinals. It's a tournament that has, unfortunately, taken on less importance for some of the region's heavy-hitters in recent years given the rise of the Nations League, leaving Jamaica to take advantage and make a real run.

The Reggae Boyz are no leftovers, though. This is a team with real talent and a real purpose. Led by several household names from the Premier League, this Jamaica team has evolved massively over the last several years, putting them in a position to become one of CONCACAF's main powers.

Last cycle, it was Canada that emerged, finally making good on their country's vast potential to seal a World Cup spot. This cycle, all signs point to that being Jamaica, as the Reggae Boyz look destined to make noise on the road to 2026 and beyond.

Getty ImagesRecent history

For some time, Jamaica have felt like a 'nearly' team. They've had the ability to go toe-to-toe with some of CONCACAF's powerhouses but, when push came to shove, the Reggae Boyz always seemed to fall just short.

Their biggest moments came in the 2015 and 2017 Gold Cups, as they booked their place in the final both times. In 2015, they defeated the U.S. men's national team in the semis before being beaten by Mexico 3-1 in the final. Two years later, they were back on the same stage after getting semifinal revenge on El Tri, only to fall to the U.S. courtesy of a last-gasp Jordan Morris winner.

Those final appearances, though, gave the Reggae Boyz hope heading into 2022 World Cup qualifying. However, they fell flat on their faces, failing to win any of their first six games in the Octagonal to knock themselves out of the race to Qatar.

For years, the talent has been there with Jamaica, headlined by several MLS stars. Andre Blake, the Philadelphia Union star and Reggae Boyz captain, has long been one of the best goalkeepers in the region. Alvas Powell, Kemar Lawrence, Darren Mattocks and Cory Burke have also proven themselves as good MLS players.

The tide, though, has begun to turn as Jamaica have brought in a new class of player in recent years, with several familiar faces making the decision to represent the Reggae Boyz at international level.

AdvertisementGettyBig time recruits

For years, the USMNT have been hailed as the best recruiters in the region, having secured commitments from a number of young stars. But Jamaica has been right up there with them when it comes to convincing dual nationals to represent them.

Michail Antonio, Demarai Gray, Bobby Decordova-Reid, Ethan Pinnock… all Premier League regulars, all Jamaica stars. Each of the above spent their formative years in England, and several even earned youth caps for the Three Lions, but, in search of international football, they have found a home in Jamaica.

“When you grow up playing in England and in the England system, it’s easy to think that’s all there is – but it’s not," Gray recently told the Athletic. “There’s a lot more to football, and sitting down with the Jamaica manager widened my eyes and made me see how I can really try to help the nation and bring my skills and experience to Jamaica.

“Being a Premier League player, I want to bring what I’ve learned and my leadership skills to that level of football. Hopefully, I can help.”

Antonio is likely the most famous of that bunch, with the West Ham star immediately becoming a key figure upon committing in 2021. His arrival was seen as a seminal moment for Jamaica, with Antonio having already proven himself as a top Premier League player throughout nearly a decade in the English top flight.

“One thing with the Jamaican team is that there’s a lot of potential, there’s a lot of quality and people are starting to turn up," Antonio said this summer. "We’ve got a few Premier League players now with Demarai Gray, Bobby Reid, myself, Ethan Pinnock and Leon Bailey. It’s not just the Premier League players. [Andre] Blake has been goalkeeper for the year, for the last few years, in America, so it’s a good squad being built."

Antonio can't do it on his own, but, as he said, he doesn't have to. Leon Bailey is a regular for Aston Villa, while Gray, a former England U21 international, committed to the team this June and has already made a splash.

JFF President Michael Ricketts has confirmed that the federation plans on going after more English-raised dual nationals in the years to come, telling Sportsmax TV in Jamaica in 2021: “Looking at the list I see Andre Gray, I see Demarai Gray, I see Isaac Hayden – who himself called the JFF to express his desire.

“Mason Holgate, Liam Moore – who has actually acquired his Jamaican passport – Nathan Redmond, Kemar Roofe and Ivan Toney. All of these are in the process of acquiring their Jamaican passport.”

The federation did miss out on perhaps its biggest target, Jamaica-born Raheem Sterling, although that one was probably never realistic given his prospects for England. However, there are clearly plenty of stars abroad capable of lifting the level of the Reggae Boyz, although the federation has learned the importance of picking the right ones in recent years.

GettyChemistry issues

During qualification for the 2022 World Cup, FIFA produced a series called "Captains", where they followed the likes of Thiago Silva and Luka Modric as they captained their sides on the road to Qatar.

Blake, too, was featured, with Jamaica offering an inside look into the qualification process. We now know that campaign was doomed, although it still feels like it should never have gone as poorly as it did.

With so much talent, Jamaica should be among the teams pushing for one of those two four spots in CONCACAF, but they finished a distant fifth behind Costa Rica during qualifying. The documentary offered a glimpse into chemistry issues, which seemingly centered around one familiar face: Ravel Morrison.

The ex-Manchester United man committed to Jamaica in 2020, making his debut in November of thar year. He has earned 18 caps but, in a clip from that FIFA documentary, it seems like he struggled to integrate himself into the Reggae Boyz squad.

"We have one big problem, one somebody that wreaks havoc," Blake said. "One. He talks the talk and says, 'On the ball, I'm Messi'. I said 'No, you do the most'. He steps on the pitch and there are two men around him and Antonio is right there, and he tries to shoot the ball. I said: 'Just make it simple! You see all this but you don't do what you say.' I say that to him, and he tries talking back and I got mad because, if nobody can talk to you, don't talk to nobody, but he talks the most on the field!

"Don't tell me you know how to do it. You're only going to get me mad. You're trying to fix everybody else. If you want to fix it, look in the mirror."

Morrison has remained a part of the team, earning three caps this year before being left off the Gold Cup roster due to his club situation. The midfielder is currently not playing, having been removed from D.C. United's plans for this season.

In stark contrast, the chemistry at the Gold Cup seems to be at an all-time high, with a video of Blake leading the team in the performance of John Legend's "All of Me" going viral early in the tournament.

“I think there are bits and pieces that are falling into place," said assistant coach John Wall, "and I think we are becoming even more and more unified in our ways and how we want to win games and how we want to perform overall. That’s generally my impression, so far, being in the bubble as I am."

GettyGold Cup so far

Led by their group of Premier League stars, Jamaica have emerged as legitimate candidates to win this Gold Cup.

They drew with the USMNT 1-1 in the opening game, although they will feel they should have won. A late goal scored by Brandon Vazquez robbed the Reggae Boyz of a statement win, but it certainly hasn't slowed them down.

No, Jamaica have blasted all in their way since, crushing Trinidad & Tobago 4-1 before smashing Saint Kitts & Nevis 5-0 to finish second in the group on goal difference. In the quarterfinal, they took down Guatemala, booking themselves a date with Mexico, and a chance to make another statement against a powerhouse.

All of this has been done without Antonio getting on the scoresheet. Gray leads the team with two goals, with the Everton man one of nine different players to find the back of the net during their four-game run.

"I don't mind who scores the goals and honestly, he doesn't as well," head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson said. "I'm not worried about that. [Antonio] gives a lot of energy and opponents surround him so he opens space for others.

"When you have players that can score goals as we have — there are a lot of goals in our wingers, there's a goal in 'Whisper' [Dujuan Richards] when he comes in, Kaheem [Parris] scored, well it was an own goal, so we have a lot of goals in the wingers and we have Shamar [Nicholson], Cory [Burke], and Antonio as strikers, so there are a lot of goals in the Jamaica national team."

He continued: "When you have a quality player next to a quality player, it kind of helps both of them. It is nothing that we did as a coaching staff. It's just the simple things, don't complicate things when you have quality players like that. Their individual skills will take care of the details."

The match against Mexico will be tough, but it'll be one Jamaica will feel they can win, having proven they're capable even before this tournament of going toe-to-toe with the region's elite.

Messi’s intention is to remain on the trophy trail in 2024, with club and country. He is determined to challenge for MLS Cup glory, while Argentina are preparing to defend their Copa America title. While all of that takes place in the real world, the virtual realm offers just as many opportunities for success.

Messi has remained coy regarding his plans to grace the 2026 World Cup in America, Canada and Mexico, but KONAMI are giving him a chance to relive what it felt like to enhance his record-breaking medal collection.

Lalit Modi's status as RCA chief in doubt

There is confusion over Lalit Modi’s status as president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association, with reports of him being voted out by the association’s members coming in, even while RCA deputy-president Mehmood Abdi rubbished claims of his ouster

‘Modi not facing a very serious challenge’ – Mehmood Abdi

There is confusion over Lalit Modi’s status as president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association, with reports of him being voted out by the association’s members coming in, even while RCA deputy-president Mehmood Abdi rubbished claims of his ouster.RCA and BCCI officials met in Jaipur on Saturday to discuss the Rajasthan XI team selection as per the Rajasthan High Court directive. Following that meeting, an anti-Modi lobby, headed by RCA vice-president Amin Pathan, claimed to have met separately and voted Modi out of the RCA. However, Modi aide Abdi said the RCA was fully behind him as the president.Pathan said the supposed move to remove Modi was taken with a view to break the banned association’s impasse with the BCCI. “When we elected Lalit Modi, we were told the RCA wouldn’t face any problem. We didn’t know it would lead to a ban from the BCCI and our players would suffer,” Pathan said. “All these hassles in fielding our teams in different tournaments are not acceptable. We have elected a new body and will write to the BCCI to accept us.”Soon after, Abdi told ESPNcricinfo: “These are all disgruntled elements, which are working for the interests that are anti-RCA. The entire association is behind Mr Lalit Modi and there is no change in his status.” Later, he added in a statement, “The so-called meeting of the RCA executive committee in Jaipur was wholly unauthorised and illegal. Moreover, there was no notice of any such meeting and it was organised in a very clandestine manner away from the RCA office. All those claiming to be members of the executive committee attending that meeting were fake identities.Strict disciplinary action will be taken against all those found involved in this mischief.”Modi, speaking to , put the “revolt” down to team-selection issues. “Some disgruntled members probably didn’t get their way in selection of boys and thus revolted. Not worried about such vested people,” Modi said. “No interference in selection has always been my mantra – if someone wants to revolt, most welcome. But on my watch, no interference or blackmailing will be allowed.”Aside from Modi, Pathan, one of the association’s six vice-presidents, also claimed to have ousted Abdi and treasurer Pawan Goyal in an extraordinary general meeting. Pathan also announced himself as the acting president. On the other hand, Abdi said neither the president nor the secretary Sumendra Tiwary had convened a general body meeting. The BCCI members did not take any part in the second meeting. In the first meeting, which dealt with the Rajasthan teams’ selection, BCCI general manager, game development, Ratnakar Shetty met with Abdi, Tiwary and other RCA representatives to start the selection procedure as per court directive. Abdi and the other RCA representatives handed over some of the requisite documents to start the selection procedure to Shetty and court-appointed coordinator Taposh Chatterjee. It was then decided that the junior selection trials will be held in the coming week. The date of senior selection trials will be decided later. The RCA was suspended in May by the BCCI after former IPL chairman Modi, who was expelled by the BCCI last year for “committing acts of serious misconduct and indiscipline”, was elected the state association’s president. The BCCI suspended it for allowing a banned individual to be a part of its affairs, and, later, omitted the various teams representing Rajasthan from its domestic programme for the upcoming season. That left the players anxious and confused as to what their future holds, and eventually a petition was filed in the in the Rajasthan High Court on behalf of 75 Rajasthan cricketers, asking that they not be made to suffer “only for one reason, which is the grudge between BCCI and RCA”. Subsequently, the court passed an interim order appointing selection committees to pick teams to represent the state in various BCCI domestic tournaments in 2014-15, but not under the usual banner of the RCA. While that came as a boost for the players, the impasse between the BCCI and the RCA continued.Pathan had previously been a Modi loyalist. The secretary of the Kota District Cricket Association, he had even accompanied Abdi when Modi’s nomination papers were filed for the RCA election in November.

Ireland 'expect matches' against Full Members

Cricket Ireland chief executive Warren Deutrom has said that Ireland and Afghanistan must get matches against Full Members to give credibility to their addition to the ICC ODI rankings table

Nagraj Gollapudi29-Jan-2015Cricket Ireland chief executive Warren Deutrom has said Ireland and Afghanistan must be able to schedule matches against Full Member nations to give credibility to the Associate pair’s addition to the ICC ODI rankings table for 2019 World Cup qualification. If Ireland and Afghanistan do not get enough opportunities to play against Full Member nations, Deutrom said the ICC’s latest decision to make qualification based on the rankings table would hold no significance.”I see divisions have been created of ODI cricket,” Deutrom told ESPNcricinfo following the ICC’s announcement on Wednesday. Ireland and Afghanistan must finish in the top eight of the rankings by the September 30, 2017 cutoff deadline in order to automatically qualify for the World Cup. “Full Members have been held to account in terms of the opportunity to play in the World Cup. Ireland is in the first division of ODI nations. We fully expect matches to come. And if they don’t, then questions will be asked about how robust is this structure if a rankings system has been created and there are no matches created.”Deutrom disagreed with the perception that the promotion was a case of one step forward, two steps backward for the two top Associates. The two steps backward conclusion is based on the premise that Full Members won’t risk playing Ireland and Afghanistan especially when it could hurt their ranking if things don’t go well on the field.”I would read it differently,” Deutrom said. “Reading between the lines, what has been approved today is for the very first time Full Members have to qualify for the World Cup. Only the top eight in the rankings will pre-qualify. What that means is every single ODI that is now played prior to the [2019] World Cup has a context.”You can look at it two ways. Some countries may think, ‘We don’t want to play Ireland because we don’t want to risk losing and therefore ranking points.’ Some might say, ‘We need to get out of the eighth or ninth position so why don’t we play Ireland because that is going to get us a better chance of getting ranking points.”Deutrom did concede that under the new FTP from 2015-23, there are no guaranteed matches as every member, especially the top nations, can arrange bilateral series to suit their balance sheets. In the absence of any such obligation, Deutrom agreed Full Member countries could easily distance themselves but he felt that in order for the rankings to be properly credible the two new entrants needed to have opportunities to play matches.”When this issue of 12-team rankings came to [the ICC chief executive committee] in November, there was certainly great support around the table for ensuring that we had a sufficient number of opportunities to play games. That did not translate into ‘Here you go, here’s a bunch of ODIs,’ because it was yet to be discussed by the Board. But now that it is across the line I am not going to be shy about really pushing for some matches. We now do so with a much stronger mandate.”Deutrom said he was not aware of the approximate the number of matches Ireland and Afghanistan would need to play to strengthen their position before the September 2017 cut-off date but conceded they needed to aim for a minimum number of matches. Since the 2011 World Cup, Ireland had 26 ODIs, nine of which were against Full Members with two other scheduled matches against Full Members abandoned. However, this was a sharp decline for Ireland from the preceding four years. After 2007 World Cup through the end of the 2011 edition, Ireland played 47 ODIs.Deutrom said the only way possible for him to create opportunities would be by working closely with the other Full Members and tap every single available slot. “There are certain opportunities for us to explore and exploit. Whether it be around inbound tours to the UK, teams playing around UAE, teams when they are flying to and fro to the Caribbean via London. We just sincerely hope that everyone is going to take the Board resolution seriously to try and make these rankings credible.”Deutrom also pointed out that in case Ireland and Afghanistan could not find higher-ranked opposition then at least they could play each other. “We still have the opportunity of playing against Afghanistan as they do against us. What is the alternative? The alternative is we have a ten-team World Cup. We have no opportunity to play against Full Members in a more structured environment. There is no means into an ODI structure, which this new system allows.”The other new rule approved by the ICC concerns the lowest-ranked Associate on the ODI rankings table contesting a play-off against the winner of the World Cricket League Championship. The winner of the play-off would automatically move up to the ODI rankings table for the next cycle with the defeated country getting relegated to the WCL Championship.Asked if there was indeed any meritocracy in such a move as was claimed by the ICC, Deutrom approved of the promotion and relegation system put in place. “The view that particularly Ireland took is we were prepared to concede the point about relegation if only it guaranteed the concept of promotion.”

The former Burnley, Wolves and Scotland striker joined Wrexham in a free transfer in September and has since scored twice in 10 matches for the League Two side.

Parkinson says the striker's knee had been causing problems for the 36-year-old for some time, but he still wanted to play for the Welsh side and has been backed to play a key role once he is fit again.

WHAT THEY SAID

"We knew Fletch's knee was coming to the point where he needed an operation," Parkinson said. "He's subsequently had his operation this week and he's going to have a spell out. But he couldn't carry on the way he was going. He was putting himself up for selection, but his knee was swelling up after each game and he needed a clean out.

"We'll be looking forward when he returns and he'll be firing all cylinders. The impact when he's come off the bench has been exceptional. Paris had replaced Nathan Coulter-Nile in the Western Australia side on the third day of the match.Chasing 282, Queensland were well on course thanks to Charlie Hemphrey, who added 77 with Marnus Labuschagne (52, 49b, 6×4, 1×6) for the second wicket and 97 with Chris Lynn (44, 68b, 8×4) for the third to take the score to 2 for 182. But wickets fell steadily thereafter, as Queensland slipped to 7 for 228, before Hemphrey and Mark Steketee steadied the chase with a 28-run eighth-wicket stand. With Queensland needing 26 with three wickets in hand, Michael Hogan struck, bowling Hemphrey for 102 (144b, 16×4). The end came in the very next over, as Paris broke through the defences of No. 10 Mitchell Swepson and No. 11 Peter George off successive deliveries.Western Australia began the day 1 for 79 in their second innings, their lead 69. They lost Cameron Bancroft in the second over of the day, for 45 (95b, 5×4) before Marsh and Klinger took over, adding 149 off 116 balls for the third wicket. MLS Playoffs 2023 Power Rankings: FC Cincinnati remains favorites as LAFC book date with Houston Dynamo in West finale

The race to win the MLS Cup is well and truly on, but which teams are looking strong, and whose hopes of a title are slipping away?

The 2023 MLS Playoffs are upon us, and the field this year feels as open as ever. There's no obvious winner, for sure, and, in a league defined by chaos, there will be plenty of teams feeling like they have a chance at winning silverware in early December.

Last year's champions, LAFC, are involved after winning arguably the best MLS Cup final we've ever seen. They'll face the Houston Dynamo in the Western Conference finale, with the U.S. Open Cup winners looking to complete an unthinkable run to another finale. Their opponents in 2022, the Philadelphia Union, are now out, leaving the Columbus Crew and FC Cincinnati to duke it out for Eastern Conference supremacy

But who are the favorites, who are the dark horses and which teams should start looking toward next year already? GOAL has you covered…

Getty Images4Houston Dynamo ⬆️

Even in getting this far, you have to admit Ben Olsen has worked wonders with this team. His hiring was criticized by some but, since arriving, Olsen has led the Dynamo to a U.S. Open Cup title and, now, a spot in the Western Conference finals. They topped Sporting KC to get there, just edging out a win thanks to a goal off a set piece.

The goal came from Franco Escobar and it came from a fantastic ball in from Hector Herrera. The Mexican midfielder has been rejuvenated since the start of the season, and the Dynamo's supporting cast has reflectively followed the example their captain has provided them.

They're lacking star power, sure, but this Dynamo team clearly knows how to play knockout soccer, although they'll likely be big underdogs when they face last season's MLS Cup winners on the road in the conference finale.

Next match: at LAFC (12/2)

AdvertisementGetty3Columbus Crew ⬆️

It wasn't easy and it required all 120 minutes, but the Crew escaped Exploria Stadium with the result they needed.

The Crew took down Orlando City, 2-0, in Florida, making something of a statement to move on in the Eastern Conference. Winning on the road is no easy task, particularly in the playoffs, and the Crew hadn't been a great road team all season long. No matter, though, as everything came together for them to take down the Lions.

After a Christian Ramirez finish to open extra time, Cucho Hernandez scored another goal, his fourth of the playoffs, as he remains arguably the most dangerous weapon left in these playoffs. There may not be a striker in MLS you'd take over him and, fortunately for the Crew, he's peaking at the right time.

With the Colombian firing and the pieces around him all playing their part, the Crew are as dangerous as can be. They'll need to be road warriors once again at FC Cincinnati next round but, with a win over Orlando in their back pocket, they'll feel just fine about their chances.

It wasn't a typical LAFC performance that got them here. Last season's MLS Cup champions were an attacking behemoth, one that often brought Gareth Bale, of all people, off the bench. And, on their best days, LAFC can still be that. They do have Denis Bouanga and Carlos Vela still, after all.

And it was Bouanga that provided the only goal LAFC required, as they ground out a win in Seattle to return to the Conference Finals. Playing in Seattle, Bouanga's goal was all him, although you could argue that the Sounders didn't show him nearly enough respect to close him down. His run down the left-hand side proved unstoppable, with his shot beating Stefen Frei to give LAFC the only goal they'd need.

From there, LAFC proved they can play a bit of bunker ball, conceding 70 percent of possession. They never folded, though, and their MLS Cup defense will continue because of that.

They made everyone sweat a little bit with a grueling penalty shootout in the first round. And then they did it again in the conference semifinals, waiting until the last possible moment to make it happen. The Supporters' Shield winners did, in fact, make it happen, though, as their march toward MLS Cup continues.

MLS Defender of the Year candidate Yerson Mosquera scored a last-gasp winner, as FC Cincinnati squeaked out a 1-0 win over the Philadelphia Union. They did so without the actual MLS Defender of the Year, Matt Miazga, who was suspended for this one but will be back for the Conference Final vs the Columbus Crew.

The Supporters' Shield winners remain the clear favorites and, having survived this massive test against last season's Eastern Conference champions, they'll be a bit more battle-hardened as they march into a Hell is Real derby.
