Sunderland still have some big games left in their latest League One campaign to try and force their way into the Championship.

However, with the summer transfer window on the horizon, it seems as though a clue has emerged over one potential deal that the Wearside club would be involved in.

What’s the news?

According to journalist Paul Davis, on-loan Sunderland striker Will Grigg has “been offered a deal” to stay with his current club Rotherham United on a permanent basis once his loan spell ends in the summer.

Sunderland signed the striker back in early 2019 from Wigan Athletic in a deal worth £4m.

Two years later, the Northern Irishman joined MK Dons on loan until the end of the 2020/21 season before then joining Rotherham shortly after.

Great news for Sunderland fans

This season has seen the 30-year-old score just two goals in 19 appearances for his current side.

To highlight how disappointing he’s been for the Millers in this campaign, out of the 28 shots he’s had at goal, only nine of them have even been on target.

Additionally, the striker has committed more fouls and been caught offside more times than the number of crosses, interceptions or tackles he’s made.

In terms of his overall performances, WhoScored currently list him as one of Rotherham’s lowest-rated players with a rather underwhelming overall rating of 6.45/10.

With that in mind, it’s rather surprising to hear that the club have reportedly offered him a permanent deal.

With 62 appearances to his name in a Sunderland shirt, the centre-forward only found the net on eight occasions and delivered just three assists.

Taking all of this into account, it’d be safe to assume that plenty of Black Cats supporters would be rather pleased to see Grigg finally leave the club on a permanent basis this summer.

Although, with his contract at the Stadium of Light set to expire at the end of the season, this means that they won’t be picking up any sort of fee for him from Rotherham.

Overall, while it would be good to get his wages off their books, it’s hard to deny that their £4m move for him has been rather unsuccessful.

On a pitch that took sharp turn right from the first delivery bowled by a spinner, it was fast bowler Murtuja Vahora who turned it on for Baroda, taking his maiden five-wicket haul en route to skittling last year’s finalists Karnataka for 107. Sunil Joshi ensured that Karnataka almost split the day’s honours, but captain Pinal Shah’s fighting knock took Baroda to a slender lead, which might prove handy in a game that is not expected to last the full four days.The day began on a benign note, with not much carry for Vahora and left-arm seamer Sankalp Vohra, and there was no sign that 18 wickets were going to fall. The first wicket that fell was not on account of the pitch acting up either, but a continuation of KB Pawan’s poor form. He slashed at a short and wide delivery in Vohra’s first over, and the edge was brilliantly snapped up by Swapnil Singh, who leaped to his left at gully to take it almost horizontal to the ground.Vahora was bowling an excellent line at the other end, keeping it in the corridor on a good length, and he soon got rewards, removing Sunil Raju’s off stump with a ball that kept a shade low, and then getting Manish Pandey playing across to one that nipped back to trap him leg-before. The batsmen were expecting landmines; there weren’t any, although there were several firecrackers.One of those got Karnataka the big wicket of Ambati Rayudu. An Abhimanyu Mithun delivery took off from back of a length, and hit him high on the bat as he looked to play inside the line, and the edge swirled in the air for Pawan to take a simple chance at point. Karnataka’s 107 had suddenly assumed larger proportions when viewed from Baroda’s position of 44 for 5.Pinal has acquired a knack of getting runs when his side is under pressure, and he didn’t disappoint today. The Baroda captain showed the way to bat on this pitch, as he took on the spinners, repeatedly slog-sweeping them to the midwicket boundary. Karnataka didn’t help matters by dropping him early, as a back-foot punch off Mithun went just over mid-off’s hands. Baroda’s 100 and Pinal’s half-century both came off slog sweeps, with the latter stroke also taking them past Karnataka’s total. He even brought out the reverse sweep a couple of times. Deliveries that took off from a length were played as late as possible off the back foot, and kept down with soft hands.Though Karnataka continued to strike at the other end, Pinal stood firm, and how long he manages to carry on tomorrow could well determine the course of this game.

Celtic secured a 4-1 victory against Hearts in their latest Premiership game this afternoon, taking yet another step towards securing the league title.

With just three minutes on the clock, the first goal at Parkhead arrived as Jam Tarts striker Ellis Simms put his side ahead with a fine strike.

The Hoops then equalised thanks to a goal from Kyogo Furuhashi before his fellow countryman Daizen Maeda put Ange Postecoglou’s side ahead shortly afterwards.

During the second half, goals from Matt O’Riley and Giorgos Giakoumakis secured the three points for the home side, who are now on the verge of taking the league title off their Old Firm rivals.

Despite the Hoops coming back from behind to seal victory on this occasion, one figure in a Celtic shirt who didn’t have a particularly good game was Anthony Ralston.

Ralston’s poor performance

With the full 90 minutes under his belt, the right-back had 95 touches of the ball in total but wasn’t always particularly useful when he was in possession.

The full-back ended up giving the ball away on 18 different occasions, while with six crosses attempted, the Scotsman couldn’t get even one of them to find its intended target. He also failed to complete four of the seven long ball passes he tried to pull off.

Off the ball, things weren’t much better for the right-back, who committed three fouls and lost five of his nine duels, making him something of a liability for Postecoglou’s side.

This display ultimately earned the 23-year-old a rather underwhelming overall match rating of 6.8/10, making him the lowest-rated outfield player for Celtic according to SofaScore. That was even lower than Carl Starfelt, who was arguably at fault for Hearts’ early goal.

His uninspiring performance also caught the attention of Scottish Daily Express writer Matthew Fulton, who said that Ralston delivered ‘poor service into the area from him and had plenty of Hearts pressure to deal with’.

Having been slammed by Frank McAvennie for his “hopeless” performances for the Bhoys in the past, this isn’t far off what the 23-year-old was for his team this afternoon.

New Zealand have suffered a setback as Brendon McCullum is likely to miss the first two Twenty20s against Pakistan due to back stiffness. On Wednesday, he had been named in the squad for the three Twenty20s over the next week but his availability was in doubt after a fitness test. New Zealand are already missing regular captain Daniel Vettori, who has been rested for the Twenty20s.McCullum had injured his back during the second Test against India in November, in which he scored a double-century to secure a draw, but played in the third Test and three of the five ODIs that followed. The back problem had ruled McCullum out of much of the ongoing HRV Cup, New Zealand’s domestic Twenty20 tournament, as well. He plays as a specialist batsman in Tests but continues to keep in the shorter formats.”He has shown great determination and a great willingness to push through discomfort in order to help New Zealand during the recent tour of India,” said selector Glenn Turner, “but because Brendon is committed to being a wicketkeeper-batsman for New Zealand in limited-overs cricket, we are taking a longer-term view and will not risk further setbacks.”The first Test against Pakistan starts on January 7, for which McCullum is expected to be definitely available, though whether he plays the final Twenty20 on December 30 will depend on the result of another fitness test.”The medical staff are confident that intensive treatment and the right rehabilitation will stabilise his injury and get him back to full fitness,” Turner said. “He may be available for selection in the third Twenty20 as a batsman but only if the testing and assessment prove that his involvement will not have a detrimental affect on his overall recovery and his ability to wicket-keep in the one-day series.”The Pakistan series is rounded off by six one-dayers starting January 22 and will be the final international matches for both teams before the World Cup.

Contratação de Gabriel
Ganho está aí. É artilheiro, está tendo boa performance. Veio da Europa com salário de Brasil. Isso é importante todos saberem. Foi uma oportunidade. Uma negociação dura. A Inter de Milão é cuidada por chineses. E é difícil tirar jogadores de lá. Eles alegavam a venda de R$ 60 e poucos milhões. E equivale a um contrato de cinco anos para eles. Foi difícil, conseguimos e era um desejo da torcida do Santos. Torcida reclama por reforços. E mesmo com a chegada do Gabigol, ainda há dúvida. Gabigol é ganho técnico, de imagem, meninos estão voltando a ver jogos. Juventude vai muito pelo videogame. Ou camisas de times da Europa. Então temos que mudar essa situação que não é boa para o clube.

Corte de ídolos
Ninguém corta de graça. Fomos obrigados a cortar ídolo porque custa dinheiro e às vezes não tem função. Época de contratações políticas acabaram. Abrimos lista de funcionários para quem quiser. A quem puder ajudar, minha porta está aberta. Não fui picado por mosquitinho. Posso atender cada um de vocês. Estamos há 90 dias só resolvendo problemas. ويجري “كاف” مراسم القرعة في القاهرة وفقًا لما أعلنه الاتحاد الإفريقي في وقتٍ سابق.

ويشارك في دور المجموعات بدوري ابطال إفريقيا 16 فريقًا وهم: الأهلي، الزمالك، بترو أتلتيكو (أنجولا)، صن داونز (جنوب إفريقيا)، شباب بلوزداد (الجزائر)، فايبرز إف سي (أوغندا)، الترجي (تونس)، الرجاء (المغرب)، المريخ (السودان)، شبيبة القبائل (الجزائر)، سيمبا (تنزانيا)، حوريا كوناكري (غينيا)، القطن (الكاميرون)، الهلال (السودان)، الوداد (المغرب) وفيتا كلوب (الكونغو).

وتنتظر جماهير الأهلي والزمالك نتيجة قرعة دور المجموعات من دوري أبطال إفريقيا خاصةً وأنها قد تسفر عن وقوع الفريقين في مجموعة واحدة نظرًا لوجود كل منهما في مستوين مختلفين بالتصنيف.

ويتواجد الأهلي في المستوى الأول بـ(78 نقطة)، فيما يحل الزمالك بالمستوى الثاني بـ(43 نقطة).
